I think the spirit of those who have got their Green Cards and still come can be summed up as "Fight for what is right first. Fight for our rights second."
I think those who are having a fight inside the camp do not have that spirit. That is why they can not agree on things.

WHat happens when they return the visa number to DOS? Can they request them again later or these numbers are just wasted for this year?
Thanks!
Since the year is not over yet (until SEP30) , DOS can adjust the dates in next (interim ?) bulletin accordingly. That does not mean they become current like original Jul bulletin did , but at least some people will be able to file.

are sure it is 7 years? i thought .. it is 3 years.
You can expect it anytime. The retention period is 7 years, so keep all your tax filing papers and all related docs for at least 7 years.

Correction: July 17th 2007 & July 28th 2007 - Please correct it.
Could not understand what you mean by 'these 485s are still unadjudicated'. Of-course yes, that's why the dates are moved further so that they can get adjudicated.
Again 'Once they get adjudicated there would be retrogression' what do you mean? If they all get adjudicated then what is the reason of retrogression again? Am I missing something here? May be we can take it like this, depending upon the volume of the approvals, the dates will go back, higher the approvals, lesser the retrogression.
I do not want to spoil the party fun but somewhere in my mind there is a lingering doubt. I read Ron Gotcher's post about August 2008 bulletin.
http://immigration-information.com/forums/showthread.php?p=20233#post20233
He says that Eb2 India will retrogress to 2003 or 2004.
This is my opinion. TSC 485 processing time is July 17,2008. NSC 485 processing cut off date is July 28th, 2008. I don't know if CSC is still processing 485 EB applications but CSC EB processing cut off date on its website is April 04, 2006. The priority date for June 2007 bulletin was April 1st2004.
Lot of big law firms filed 485's around August 1st because the date for filing 485's was extended to August 17th. So I think these 485's are still unadjudicated. Once they get adjudicated there would be retrogression. Analysts analyze. However the silver lining would be removal of concurrent processing of I-140 and I-485 which may give some additional EB 2 numbers next year.

I dont know how far this bill will get, given the facts that it has weaker workplace enforcement laws plus a direct path to citizens. This is exactly what the Republicans dont want.
I dont know much about the bills, but I agree with Nat23 because the post mentiones weaker enforcement laws. I have a feeling that this will not clear from Senate to be forwarded to the house.

That one gives the description of the plight of GC aspirants not what kind of scenarios in different phases of GC are contributing this plight. What specific action by a congressman has to be taken which section of the law has to be modified in what exact wording should be. Many people say about issues and plight but what exactly has to be done and where and by whom. Sorry if I still missed the info other than the one you gave in the link
Please contribute as much as you can. IV Core will do their best to resolve many of our problems. The issues you mentioned are some of the issues core has been working.

Pappu,
Do I need to post my question on this thread or I can pass it on before in time to StarSun or you? B'cause posting my GC issue with personal information would not look appropriate on a public forum.
Let me know.
If there are personal details that is related to the question, please send the details to IVCOORDINATOR@GMAIL.COM Have the subject line:
IV Username, Aug 19, Conf call.
Can we post a question now or only after 8:30PM Thursday?
You have to be present to ask the question on the call, and therefore we prefer if you posted the questions on Thursday.

I appreciate your response even if the guy is not a donor. Great job.
I thought about that for a minute too. This guy has joined on Dec 06, don't know if he made any financial contribution, don't know if he acted upon any action items IV core requested us to do (hopefully he did)
But IV core stepped in to help this guy, that shows the commitment of the leadership team to help everyone.
You guys rock!

Do everything from scratch. File a new labor for a job position that requires a master's degree or bachelors + 5 years of exp. Then when applying for 140, attach a copy of the old 140 to use the earlier PD. There is no relation between the new job position and the job from the old 140. They do not have to match.
Risks? Zero. You just have to spend time and effort in getting the new 140.
The benefits of doing this far outweigh the trouble that you have go through to get bumped up to EB2.

You mean to say CIR will be introduced to the immigration or judiciary senate committee or introduce directly to the senate. If it is introduced directly to the senate floor that will save a lot of time, on the flip side it will become difficult to add or change provisions if it is directly introduced to the senate bypassing the senate judiciary and immigration committee
Bills almost never go to the floor directly. Especially something as huge as CIR. It will go thru committee again and it will go thru normal rounds of debate and amendments between the 18 people in Judiciary committee.
Its very unusual for a bill to hit the floor directly without going thru the committee that has jurisdiction over it. If it happens all the time, then the committees would be meaningless. The whole point of having a committee is to be able to either kill the entire bill, or a congressional appointment before such a bill / confirmation is debated by all 100 senators. Same thing in the House.
If it was possible to bypass committees, then people would have floored the SKIL or other bills directly on the floor of the house, therby bypassing Jim Sensenbrenner and his Judiciary committee last year.

1) First thing is, the I-94 on COS approval and I-94, currently present in my Passport does not match.
2) First name and middle name are interchanged in the passport and H1 approval.
Is this going to create any problem while applying SSN? What are the possible consequences..
Also, any similar scenarios, plz respond..
First, I do not think there will be any one with similar scenarios!
The names on the two I-94s do not match because you used the old name when entering the country. <-- your fault. DMV is not an authority on immigration. My best guess is that the newer I-94 prevails.
First Name and Middle Name got interchanged because of USCIS error. You should contact them and get this resolved. They will probably send you a new approval notice with a new I-94.
Its better to be safe than sorry. You should get the name corrected asap.
