My company paid for attorney fees. I dont know the amount for that.
My pocket expense
$380 - medical tests
$60 - photographs
$50 - mailing fees.
Obviously, no money can account for the mental torture I and my family have been going through once we learned about visa bulletion revision rumors.

Good to know you oppose illegal immigration that is actually destroying American life. My solution to the illegal immigration was same and given months back on this forum. Punish employers harshly with fines (50K per incident) plus 5 years of jail time and put the burden of finding out if person is legal ON the employer. Soon institutions like Equifax/Experian/TransUnion will pop up instead of the current one -EVerify.
You completely missed the point of immigration and outsourcing. They have NOTHING to do with eachother. Even if they paid me in dollars and gave me a cushy job and paid for every of my expense to run a outsourced part of a company in my home country, I will not go because it's not the money that matters, it the quality of life! I don't want to be driving 1 hour to get 5 miles ahead. I don't want to bribe a peon to get my own birth certificate. I don't want people creating a welcome mat for me on the sidewalk - made not out of rose petals but chewed pan spit.
I like some of your ideas but won't indudge in any dialogue with you unless you update your profile. the idea of punishing employers is not mine. I read it somewhere in one of the posts on this very site, maybe yours only

The best thing DOL did was to get rid of Labor Subs. Period.
Why:
1. I've paid Social Security taxes + Medicare + Income taxes longer than people who've come here in 2006 and used LS. If I don't get GC (frustration due to retrogression), aren't these guys enjoying (or going to enjoy) benefits that I've paid for, for a longer time.
2. It's really no different than the system in India (or what used to be)for getting everything from telephone, passport etc. where a select few jump ahead in line by either knowing somebody or paying somebody. Isn't that one of the reasons a lot of us decided to move to the US for better(fairer?) opportunities.
3. Isn't this very similar to the falsifying of experience people do to get better positions in a company?
4. Yes, I do have a problem if after slogging my butt off to get a Ph.d, somebody with 3 yrs + 2yr of NIIT comes in through desi consultancy and gets far ahead in line than me. Now before somebody says NIW+ EB1, let me tell you that it's not that easy to get it in the Computer Sciences.
Anyway, having said that it's no time to be divided, but to present an unified front in getting legislation passed that eliminates exactly this kind of discussion. Atleast 20 yrs down the line when we talk about arranging marriages between our children, let how we got GC be a deciding factor in who's got the bigger status :D

hmm, i think munnabhai did the right thing.
sometimes people give irrelevant advice. one guy asks im getting divorced, what shud i do with respect to 485? if people tell him, stop worrying bout 485, focus on ur life and fix ur marraige, then its not helping him from a "forum" perspective.
thanks
snathan's post is not asking anyone to reconsider their decision. But it clearly shows/explains how and where we as a married couple go wrong. What we really miss in married life and what we never realize as a parents.
Again its a very good post snathan.

suresh.emails,
I said in my earlier post that I will think about it. This is what I have to say.
There are things that can be measured in single dimension say on x-axis. Say you have to buy a car and you have to ask yourself a question which car do I like to buy? Say you like Honda as compared to other cars. Your likeability of Honda or such cars could be measured on the positive side of the x-axis and likewise, if you dont like some car, that can be measured on the negative side on the x-axis. Now, there could be another dimension to the situation, say, what is the car model in question, if it is a civic or maybe accord, accord, CRV, Odyssey, Element or whatever. Now if you ask yourself that question again which car do I like? This time you need two dimensions to answer the question which Honda model you like and which you dont like. Foe the sake of clarity you can do this on the X&Y-axis. But say if there is a choice of multiple colors. You would have to now think/plot a 3-dimention model, say a cube, because you may like a model of Honda in one color but you may not like the same color in another model. Now there could be other combinations, say which year make or whether it is a sedan/coupe or the cost factor or resale value, mileage, new/old, dealership, goodies, experience of your friends/well-wishers etc. etc. etc. So there could be multiple dimensions analysis to answer a 7 word question - which car do I like to buy?
The reason I say this is, even situations which otherwise seem simple require multiple dimensions of analysis. And there could be many more dimensions that we do not know or we do not understand. But say, you ignore all dimensions to every situation, and judge every situation in a single dimension analysis - whether or not you like something or not? If you dont like it, that something has to be wrong. If you like it, that something is right. It can be easily identified on the x-axis. Simple, isnt it. Life would be so much easier; it would be so much fun.
But here is the problem. With single dimension analysis of every situation, we will all be wrong most of the time. Since our childhood, maybe thats why we were sent to school to get educated so that we could gain the knowledge & wisdom which could help us to apply more than one dimension to every situation and we could gain the ability to evaluate and analyze things around us intelligently in multi-dimension.
Your single dimension analysis of -ve comments situation is, you don't like them and that's why the entire system HAS to be wrong. You see what I am saying.
Its ok to express in the any forum and if you dont like a forum, as in this case you dont like reputation system, you have the choice to totally ignore it and not look at it at all. But you chose to look at the reputation system maybe because you continue to be mindful of your reputation on the anonymous forum, but then you continue to complain about the existense of the red dot system. Its the choice you make. And then you apply single dimension analysis if you dont like a comment, there is something wrong with the guy who posted a negative comment and the reputation system and the IV and everyone around us. And because you are not happy, you think it is ok to curse everyone saying that the entire immigration system cannot be fixed because IV has reputation system. You know, I have to tell you, you are pretty good.
The reason I say all this is, I have fundamental difference with the folks who do not like reputation system but continue to look at it and complain about it, even when they have the choice not to look at the reputation system. The problem doesnt end there. Every week there is someone complaining about the reputations left for that guy, and I just have an intellectual disagreement with that behavior. And I do not have anything against you or anyone else, I am sure you are a good man with a kind heart.
.
Good points Sanju we should weigh the +s and the -s of the rep system, however you are missing the core of the complaints. Which is that people giving reds are usually (though not always) doing it as a personal attack (you suck, F*'s etc.), whereas every green that one receives is usually on subject matter (I have not seen a "you stud"!! kind of +ve reps ;) ).
Also, what it wrong for people to complain about the system? If people have the right to give reds, why shouldn't the forum be allowed to complain about it? And if the popular opinion is against it, then the system can be dismantled.
At both ends (the extreme left and the right) it is always "my way or the highway". Neither one recognizes that there are people with different view points, and that everyone should be given an opportunity to air their own views (live a life of their choosing etc.).

I agree ..provided they have done thier BS in US university ..i know 80 % of the indian students ( leave IITs/IIMs) will do MS because they either didn't get any job in india or admission to higher degree program
I dont know about other members but it is hard for me to blv that IIT's and IIM's will come to US for a masters degree coz they could not find a job in India or they could not get an admit in a master's program.
If that was the case people would have stopped going got IIT's/IIM's. Why will someone work so hard to get to the top most program - to not get a job and then pursue MS from US OF A????
I think the IIT's/IIM's come here they MOSTLY (not all) come here for a purpose....research/money/better life/whatevet.....
Any IITians or IIM's who are member care to throw some light. I personally know 2 IIT's and 1 IIM who are in US for good and would check with them.....

Not related to this thread but I did not want to open a new thread for this question..
As you can see I am EB2-I (info above) and am waiting in line for my turn but I am just wondering if L1 route to GC is quicker? If so then how?
Not that I am trying to do it because I can not :) but I know someone who just got his GC via L1 in matter of months and here we all EB guys are waiting..
Thanks.
I know people (Indian) who have applied for EB1 after being in L1 for a couple of years and got the GC in 6 months. There is a category for International Manager (or something similar) that qualifies them for EB1.

I couldn't agree with you more...
As long as you are able to do what you want to do in life, that is what really matters. I don't have children yet, so that's not my worry. My spouse is on her own H1 and I hold two jobs on concurrent H1s.
Between the 3 jobs, we make good money, own two houses in the US, one overseas and live a content life. That's our GC, the actual GC is nice to have but it doesn't bother us that much...I bet there are plenty of GC holders out there who haven't gotten as far as I have...in terms of working 2 jobs & owning 2 houses.
So the moral of the story is, GC or no GC, live a good life, be content and don't miss out on the fun...don't let the GC fever bring you down..
hm... So why are you here, in Immigrationvoice ???

Voted a little while ago. The number had crossed 300.
A suggestion. Pass it on to all your friends and colleagues who might be fellow travellers in this EB journey or may know someone who are, and sympathetic to the plight.
I have just done that....and will also call them and ask them to vote.
In the past, your friends may not have responded to such requests to vote or write to senators. Don't be disheartened. Everyone in this mess is suffering. So, keep asking friends nevertheless, to vote and express support.
Best of luck to US all

They do not accept Indian 3 yr bachelors & 2/3years of Masters + 5 years for EB2. This has been discussed lot of times. They expect single 4 year degree.
15yrs of education(India Bachelors) + 5 or more years of education for EB3 is accepted if certain qualifiers are included in the Labor.
Just take care if you are dealing with attorney who saying above thing.
Hi number30,
I know many of my friends who have Indian 3 yr bachelors & 2/3years of Masters + 5 years experience post education applied in EB2 and got I-140 approved and many of them got their GC too.

Why is everyone blaming just the Chinese University for trying to circumvent the immigration system? It says 95% of the students were from Andhra Pradesh. These are the people who are causing delays in reforms and we pay the price by being stuck in the hole. The founders and all these students should be deported and banned from entering the US for life.

Thanks for informative posts. and Thanks specifically for addressing the wages question.
Another Quebec/Ontirio question.
Apart from the French language and referendum threat, are there any other downsides for Montreal? I guess the reason I seem to be fixated is that I think if I am going to make this change I might as well change the life setting to somewhat more European (in terms of architecture and the environment overall) as I am getting tired of American setting some times. So Montreal sounds more European in that sense. I do however, have a wife and kids and not sure if that makes a difference in the choice of destination as oppose to being a single migrant. Any differences in terms of education quality or family friendly policies between Ontario and Quebec?
Thank you

@ Seratbabu,
According to my lawyer, I-485 is applied by the applicant directly & not by company or lawyer. So, if you have received the I-485 receipts to your own address, then you will received RFE to your home address.
