My wife and I filed AOS/EAD on July 3rd. USCIS has given us a notice date of Sep 7. I got my EAD on Sep 17th, but my wife's EAD status shows "Case pending." Anyone else whose EAD receipt date is 2 weeks old and still no EAD?

I have a very good friend who is French. He live is Paris. He tells me his view is different than yours.
Beppenyc, could it be because France did not control the number of immigrants and ended up bringing more pople than what they should and made assimilation harder there ? Some believe that the US is heading to a path similar than the France one. Just look at the US. This is a country known for its immigration tradition. Look at what is happening now. Americans - unfortunately - are starting to become bitter towards immigration. Why ? It is because as everything in life, you need to have a balance. If you start letting too many people in, people may feel immigration becomes an invasion. Like France, this is a democracy. When you have the majority of your citizens pissed off at illegal immigration or even rate of legal immigration, honestly I would listen to the people otherwise the relationship between newcomers and citizens may look a rough road ahead.
Just to give you an idea, today I have a lunch with folks from my church - some are here illegally - and they acknowledged that there are too many Latinos in Orlando and therefore they do not want to live there anymore. Just to give you an idea how serious the situation is. Even the illegal folks themselves admit that an unbalanced number of immigrants may not be advantageous.
The problem in French is different. They bring the immigrants from Africa and North Africa to work to build the subway, La Defense (ask yourfriends),Eurostar ect ect. French has a controll of the number of immigrants, is not so difficult. The problem is that they put the immigrants living in the ghetto (Banlieu) and to not give any hope of future. When all the big project were done, they forced to sent the immigrants home, but without success. The US economy have an enormous advantage with the Illegal immigration, in particulary in Agricolture, they were more competitive in the international market. If you have 12 million of illegals, means that you have at least 6 million of American Citizen who give job to this people, making a HUGE PROFIT. Let`s analyze the restaurant business, how is possible that is cheaper to eat in USA than europe? The reason because here they can use a lot of illegal in the kitchen or as waitress. What about the house building? What about it? About the legal, the difference is that of course we are playing with the rules, but the reality is that we are in the same condition: we are slave, we can not look for another job because of the sponsorship and 4 have this green card we will wait for ever.That`s give an enormous advantage to the company, butis not fair, because the company is really exploit us. i don't have my gc yet..... it must be obama's fault..... what is he doing??..... is he the only sitting on my application?...... maybe he is that he wants all illegals to get gc before my application is approved.......
this country will never appreciate what obama did in a short span of 2 years..... public memory is very short..... the economy was in a shit hole like never before...... country was going down the tube.... major financial institutions had failed.... others were on the verge of collapse and so was the economy..... this country was headed for a next great depression with 30 % 40% unemployment..... today some people are thankless and think they are in so much trouble with 10% unemployment for not being able to upgrade from 55inch led flat screen to 65 inch led flat screen 3-d tv..... in 2 years there has been a major turnaround.... but in this world of instant gratification..... most people have already forgotten where we all were 2 years back.....

We entered US in May 2007. My wife's visa stamp was expiring in Nov., but her H4 Visa was expiring in April 2008.
The Customs officer put date valid till Nov. 2007.
I went to US Customs and border protection office and showed them the original Visa. They asked to fill up new I-94 and stamped it with April 2008 Date.

Jamaica does not require visa for Indian citizens, regardless of US status. One of the very few countries where Indians can go w/o visa along with Thailand and Hong Kong.

All,
My employer revoked the i140 of a person after 180 days. He did not reveal this information to me and used labor substitution for me.
The other person used AC21 and got his 485 approved. INS has denied my I140 since a 485 has already been approved and there can be only one GC on one labor. INS says that once the 485 is approved that job ceases to exist.
My company is saying that they have done this in the past and got approvals. They are saying that they applied the I140 substitution long before the 485 approval of the other person.
Now they are saying that they will appeal that the other guy never had the intention of working for the comapany.
Is there any chance for the I140 approval and using the existing labor ? If not will the INS help me keep the Priority Date.
Does anyone have knowledge of such cases (or) know the results of such appeals.

This should not impact legal immigrants. Legal immigrants always will have some valid documents like Visa or I94 or EAD. So what is the problem in this? The point number 2 may create some issues but generally none of H1b people will be impacted.

Texas change in driver�s license laws in last 6 months:
1) We knew that instead of the usual 6 years expiry date, they now want to see proof of visa documents and the expiry date is set to the expiry of the visa document.
2) If visa document is expiring less than 6 months, then we CANNOT get a drivers license.
Driver�s license laws - Latest Changes:
1) The driver�s license that all non-citizens will get will be Vertical and NOT the usual horizontal. This license looks very different than the conventional Texas DL and it also has to ominous word �temporary visitor�. I was okay with word being mentioned, but making the drivers license look so different from normal (vertical and not horizontal is taking it too far). I am worried about possible discrimination everywhere wherein we show our IDs.
2) Chance of Address not possible online: Previously, its only during license renewal, you had to get that new unique non-citizen card. Now, they are not allowing even change of address online! The website says, we don�t qualify for change of address online as well. This means that even for change of address, we have to go to the DL office and surrender of our old good unexpired DLs.
Any inputs? Texans? Others? What have been your experiences? In other states, can you change your address online without any hassle?

If they do that assuming 500K people apply for premium they can generate over 2.5billion dollars. Add to that all the investment this 500K people will make once they get their GC. Like buyin houses and makin other investments. All this should be brought in front of people so that they see there is a big advantage for them in us getting GC's

I am also in same situation. Two 140s (eb2 and 3) both have same PD. Have beed trying for interfile from last one year. I do not know if my case is eb2 or still in eb3. I enquired from Congressman and she told me that my case is assigned to a IO on 6th Aug so its in eb2. She is not listening to anything else after telling me this information. I have infopass on 2nd Sep. lets see ...
