Got the status update email from USCIS stating a card has been issued for my 485 application.
I am not married yet. What are the implications if I get married to a citizen of india residing in India.

My I-140 was never approved..
there was a first RFE for my exp letters,
and then there was an enquiry against Employer
and then RFE for A2P
and after answering A@P it is denied.
while it was pending, during July07 fiasco we applied for I-485.
Do you know why there was an inquiry against Employer?

I hope IV does push for the 485 measure but if for whatever reason they change there mind and dont push for 485, I would be disappointed but that will in no way affect my attitude towards IV. Over the past year or so I have seen enough of core tem to say they take a decision in the best intrest of IV.
I have not filed for I-485 and neither am I close. I feel I-485 is much more controversial interim relief then most members think. This is explained in a post (from a law firm) in another forum. Another reason for my feeling is that AILA is not supporting I-485 filing for health care: they are supporting a temporary 25K-75K increase in GCs. It is possible that health care GC does not have I-485.
You have to choose an issue that has a chance of getting through rather then an issue that most persons want or is logical. I will be surprised if I-485 filing as interim interim relief reaches the bill state and/or the bill gets approved in Senate + Congress.
I do not consider this to be a reason to move away from IV. I agree with some requests that require IV to explain their finances and dis-agree with some IV decisions. In particular, I very strongly dis-agree with some topics + language + tone allowed in the forums. As we are seeing, it is turning people away from IV.

I have been banned too - simply because I raised the cause of international students and IV's duplicity in its stance, and that makes some GC-greedy members paranoid. :D

It takes one week to get the visa stamped. I did it and went to India in August. They will schedule FP for you in a location close to you.
Shame on you....travel thru countries that don't steal your money in the form of 'transit visa'.

I was exactly in the similar situation. My wife entered on H4, started work on EAD. Now we are traveling to India, both have AP as well as H visa (H1 for myself, H4 for wife). I talked to our corporate lawyers pretty much the exact same questions you are asking. Here is the response (that I have in writing from the lawyers):
1. H4 status is invalidated the first day you report for work on EAD. While you are working, your status is AOS in the US. There is no consequence of this change (ie you do not have to report anything to the USCIS).
2. When you reenter the US, you can use H4 for reentry. (Yes, even if you are still employed the employer with an EAD and went to India only for "vacation"). This is because at the point of entry, the definition for "working on EAD" is actually reporting to work. As long as the H1 is valid, you can enter on H4. Your status at the point of entry is H4 admission. However, if you report to work the next day, your H4 status again is invalidated and you are back on AOS.
This is a pretty confusing scenario for many and multiple lawyers that I consulted have agreed with the above legal advise.
So, even though we have AP, we would be using our H visas to enter.

Please help me. There is no LUD on my status online. I had my finger printing done on sept 19. CODE 3. For both my husband and me!! I don't see any updates on the status online. Can someone tell me what I should do? FBI says they sent the prints the same day!!!!

Hello Folks,
I am on H1-B since Aug2009 and last year I transferred around 40K USD to parents. All these transfers were spread over the year in the denominations of 5K per transaction.(As and when I saved money).
My question is, do I have to pay taxes in US on this money transferred to India. I know that my parents don't have to but I am not sure about myself.
Any pointers in this regard will be highly appreciated. Thanks,

Can you let us know know why you cudn't get it corrected at the CBP? Its clearly a mistake by the POE officer. Try other CBPs till you succeed. thats the best option you have. I've done it myself. First time, when I called them to get an appointment they said it can't be done. I called them again and got an appointment without any problem (obviously it was somebody else who attended the phone). Went in person and explained it clearly and the officer accepted the mistake and apologized on behalf of the POE Officer. He gave me a new I-94 and struck out the new number and wrote the old I94# on it. He also updated it in the system.
So, please give it a try before trying out other options. HTH!

I am planning to make a trip to Cannda or someplace to get a new I-94 as soon as i get my new passport (i had sent it for renewal on june 2nd). But i am a little worried about my status if i am unable to make the trip.

Together with rejection of billions of dollars worth Us defense deal, this is seriously moving towards becoming a significant issue. You may want to dot the is and cross the ts but that is not how the Law makers, Senators US or Indians think about these issues. They are at 30K feet level looking at the Forest while we waste time in just going around our own trees.

Agreed there are a lot of similar articles generally coming out in Indiatimes too with regard to work visa issues in the US and UK. sometimes there are factual inaccuracies, but the point is very good. Maybe we can even reach out to these reporters to work on presenting media in the US

If it is your home address you are talking about, then the RFE is very likely unrelated to the address change.
