I don't at all like what it implies, but "Have you?" is rather beautifully designed. Got my vote.
What do you think it implies? I think what makes it so interesting is the fact that its a little controversial and actually makes you think.
It got my vote as well.

*) Have an emergency cash fund that would last atleast 6 months without changing your lifestyle. If you lose job, a bit frugal living could stretch that 6month fund to 9 or 10 months. (this could be cash; or assets that would not lose their value and could be cashed at a short notice.)
Do not leave this entire fund in a checking/savings account; nor put it under your mattress.
Have some cash at hand ($1K or $2K); - this is to avoid ATM issues, run on the bank etc.
Put some of it in a 3 month CD;
Put some of it as precious metals (gold etc) - this will protect you against the dollar losing its value, yet the metal is easily saleable.
Put some of it in a money market account that yields a little better than the savings account, yet immediate cash availability.
Distribute your savings between atleast a couple of banks. (If a bank goes under, I do not know how long it takes to get access to your cash which is FDIC insured upto $100K (250K under the bailout plan)).
*) Credit is really tight right now. So... if you have any good offers of pre-approved credit, take it. Keep it aside.
*) Do not worry about your home losing its value. Enjoy the house; hopefully it will appreaciate back to your purchase price in a couple of years.
*) Pay the minimum home payments.
*) Atleast put enough in your 401K to get the employer match. That is free money you do not want to forego. Most likely, you will still be ahead if you have to cash out your 401K. (i.e. penalty + tax of an early withdrawal would most likely be less than the employer matched funds)
*) Enjoy time with family. Keep an eye for opportunities. Keep updating your skillset.

This is a news RK charging for suggestions.
I spoke to him couple of times prior to becoming his client and he never charged me anything.
He was very polite and replied all my questions. He even responded to my emails. This was in 2006.
I also suggest Amarnath Gowda(www.gowda.com), even he won;t charge any money for the suggestions to the general questions.
I used Gowda and RK and I was satisfied with both of them.
You should clear most of your questions prior to hire any attorney, then choose them according to to your satisfaction.

Salawrene,
Congratulations.
Don't mind a few people's complaints.
Most people including myself don't know the details of the immigration law.
That's why we need lawyers, and you followed your lawyer's suggestion to get your GC.
Congratulations, again

I am already actively participating in all the event for "Filing 485 when PD is not current" in immigarationvoice ...
I sent my contribution amount for IV's April month washington campaign also ...
I understand 221g is an action to prevent fraud. But at the same time consular officer should give a chance to prove visa applicant's point at the time of interview. In my case I had most of the docs at the time of interview, Why don't they accept those docs and start processing immediately, then I would have saved some 3 weeks ...
Moreover, Not all ther employer will hold your position, If your case is taken long period for approval. They have to run their business ...
So I would expect DOS should change the way of handling 221g cases. Right now It's too lenghty and more confused ...

A 700billion$ bailout is not helping much. You think we can help the economy? We are at the mercy of the employers whose earning results are going down because of recession. :( It is hard for me to believe that we can help the economy by buying houses and how are the law makers going to get convinced? Show me the proof.
500,000 Legal immigrants in limbo:
lets say (I mean lets Tell them) 1/5 th of that # buy on an average $300K houses.
That equates to $30 billion.. Not a bad #. But I am sure all want to buy houses eventually. Thats $150 billion. Not a small #.
Lets say (again tell them).
1/100 th of 500,000 start companies, of 5 employees each=25,000 jobs.. Not bad again.
This idea is inline with our IV campaign that was discussed sometime back. We can tell in different forms to the media. Somebody may publish.

Andy,
Thanks for the pointer on the 539 processing.
Does the H4 approval need to be in hand if my wife were to change her status to H1? (or) Is there an option in I 129 where she can refer to the pending I 539.
She cannot change to H1 until Oct 1 which is when the new quota of H1's will be available unless she is going to work for an exempt organization/company. In the latter case then she can apply directly now for H1 as long as she is still maintaining H4 status.
This is what I get from the new memo:
Immigration Policy and Procedural Memoranda (http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrelease/PeriodsofAdm120506.pdf)
I hope this will help you.
