I just called USCIS customer service to get it clarified for my case - applied 485 in July 07 and used AC21 in Aug 08. My 485 got approved Aug 6th 2010.
The first level officer said I am free switch. When I told that I have heard I have to stick to my current employer for 6 months or so, she put me on hold to check with supervisor. Then transferred me to 2nd level IO.
After almost 1hr wait, the second level IO confirmed I am free to switch. She got my receipt no and checked the status and mentioned I should get my card in week or two and I am free to switch.
Again, as mentioned I already invoked AC21. It will be good to hear from ppl who have not and if it makes any difference.

I called USCIS customer service regarding the DOB mistake in the AP application.
Here is what they suggested � No need to file another AP or revoke the current application as USCIS already has my correct DOB data based on past applications and they will note the mistake and can match it with the correct one because it is the second time I am applying for AP.
So while sending my documents, I am simply going to add a letter pointing the error in my DOB.

Since your I140 filed after 15th of May 2007, you have to re apply through the new point system.

a) Republican base is not you and me, in case you haven't noticed they either cater to big biz or to a specific "kind" of Americans.
but that specific kind is now the majority, the senate seats they lost are because of the extreme views of the candidates
b) Tea Party is basically opposed to many things including free trade and immigration. Like any other politician they might change when they have power, if they don't then hope things don't get worse.

c) Nikki Haley and Bobby Jindal don't represent us, they are American for all practical purposes. If anything they have distanced themselves from any indian heritage in their campaigns. Nothing to expect here.
so are thousands of desis who got GCs recently, most of desis who get GC immediately become anti-immigrant, not sure why but they start protesting h1b programs, oppose visa recapture and so on, not everyone but my personal experience is really bad,

This is my first post so forgive if I am not in the right place,
But I have situation where in I need your inputs to decide.
I am working at a clients place and they willing offer me a full time position.
My Labor is approved Oct 2007 and Filed for I-140 receipt pending.
In this situation should I change my job or should I wait for I 140 to be approved or wait till I apply for I 485 , but as you know the priority dates have retrogressed for EB2 and I heard that they will be unavailable shortly.
I always wanted to get a full time right from my Masters but ended up as a consultant as I had to get my H1 done.
Please Advice!

I am also July23 filer. Transfer TSC - CSC Finally NSC.
Today, I got FP for my wife for Dec-01 (Saturday:confused:).
Hoping, mine will also come soon.
One more thing...we called USCIS on 23rd Oct separately. They didn't open SR. My IO or Cust Rep said wait [more time-no timeline] and u will get ur FP notice. On the other hand my wife's IO or Cust. Rep said you get in two weeks. Now I see that her FP was issued on 5th Nov (2 weeks timeline).

India rejected both Boeing and Lockheed Martin's proposal of fighters . I am not debating the reasons or the merits of this decision if this was right or wrong . I am just discussing the potential repercussions this has had so far and might have .
'Exclusion of US firms from IAF jet deal a setback for ties' (http://www.indianexpress.com/news/exclusion-of-us-firms-from-iaf-jet-deal-a-setback.../783401/)
1) The issue is so serious that Tim Roemer , US Ambassador to India submitted his resignation immediately since he was on the hook for making this deal work .This shows the measure of disappointment they had.
2) India was seeking US assurances in security a Permanent Security council seat , which looks far fetched now .
4) Pentagon , Whitehouse and the DoD very upset that deal fell through . This sentiment will certainly percolate to the USCIS and the State department and might embolden Anti Immigration senators whose measures will get more support in the house and senate.
5) Prosecution of companies entangled in cases like Infosys might find more support and favor with the Govt.
Question is how/if there will be a backlash against India / Indian's get back at us at least in the short term .Increased scrutiny and visa denials , PoE Harassment , GC audits etc.
Will the US take a Tit-for-Tat reaction on this issue is what remains to be seen.

According to the reports, India went with the technical evaluation where as US in the name of transparency wanted a political decision. There is also end-user agreement US wanted India to sign, which allows US to come and check the planes whenever and wherever it wanted to... so blaming India in this is not right...
