I'm not sure anything happens with these letters etc. We need something more concrete, something that grabs attention. Last time we did the flower campain, this time we need to do something different again. My idea was the two cents campaign (link in sig). But I'm sure you all have your ideas too and if we can come up with something unique that would be great. We need something more than just letters to the whitehouse. Maybe we can pick just one senator each week or each month or congressman who does not support legal immigration bills and send letters to him/her in co-ordination. If one person gets 1000 letters on the same day about a topic it might make the news?
definitely ..and I am sure lot of people agree ..flowers, marching etc is much better ..but till we get to that point ..let us send emails / letters atleast ...something better than nothing !!

My wife's EAD renewal was e-filed with a receipt date of june 6 th, almost 120 days, still waiting. Got biometric notice for july 1st and finished it.After 94 days called 1-800 to request expediting the case on sep. 11 th, they sent a RFE asking for I-94 copies and stating biometrics were not transmitted to them and needed information on that, along with enlarged copy of photo ID.
Responded to RFE with a receipt date of sep. 25 th and no updates till day.
Called on 9/3 asnd raised a 2nd SR for expediting. AS her EAD expired on oct.1st and was given 1 week to produce new EAD by oct 10 th by her employer.
WE were hoping for some miracle by monday:confused:

Hi,
I am joining new job using AC21 provision coming monday. My new employer does not provide medical insurance for the first month. I am eligible for after I complete 1 month.
So my question is: till the time I get medical coverage from new employer (approx. 20 - 30 days), can I invoke COBRA? I heard that one can not invoke COBRA if he or she is employed (only meant for un-employement) is this true?
Also, should I call my current insurance company for COBRA now, or I can wait if I really need to visit a doctor? is there a grace period for this? Because there is a possiblity that I may never would have to visit a doctor for next 20-30 days, but who knows!
Appreciate your answers.

You can take up to 60 days to submit COBRA forms.Apply for COBRA only when you used Doctors/Hospitals in these 20-30 days.If don't use doctors/hospitals in these 20-30 days you don't need insurance.You'll automatically get insurance from new company after 20-30 days.

Please dont talk BS if you do not even know who i am...i'm a member of this group since the start!!! So you have no right to say stuff you don't even know..i'm really tired of people being selfish and not caring about kids who do age out. Some children need this because they do become illegal, like myslef eventhough we we're legal...it doesnt harm you guys...so please help the dream act effort!!!

If USCIS says, there is no problem to continue with our employment as long as we have applied for EAD renewal, there wouldn't be all this emotions. Every one would have normal BP. They must just come out and say that I would be ok to continue working.
It is so inhuman to treat us like this. They say "The day EAD expires, you must quit working until you receive the new EAD card".
Most of our jobs are replaceable in today's world. There is no shortage of "skilled workers". So, I for sure cannot take a long leave and wait for EAD to come by and re-join....because my job would be gone by then to some other "skilled" person. And its not easy to get another one quickly and without moving to a different place.

do we need carry the supporting documentation(Birth/Marrriage certificate, old H1Bs, etc) certifacte while travelling with GC? Please share your experience.
I know that other than the GC and the passport...you don't need any other document. I guess your question can be interpreted as ...would those other documents help if you somehow lose your GC while traveling outside?

I am not sure if the PM and email from IV is working. I sent out 4-5 PM and emails to various members from MI and I have not got a single reply. Also I still have not got an email from Sanjay or Varsha. Also breddy2000's email also was not received.......I am not sure if something is down.
Please advise what is needed, otherwise I have a very crazy schedule next week and I will not be able to do anything.

EB-3 india is not yet completely out of 245(i) mess. If you remember the last month's priority date was 22Apr 2001. Now in Jan priority date is 08May2001. 245(i) ended on Apr30th 2001. So this month's progress still includes 8 days of 245(i). I would imagine that more cases were filed from Apr 22 - Apr 30 as this was the last week. So its still a long way to go before EB3 is completely out of 245(i).

Mine was filed in NSC on July 24th, I140/485 only got transfered to TSC on Sept 14th, Got EAD from CSC on Sept 21, AP from CSC on Sept 25, FP notice on Sept 29th for october 16th.

How did you people know it is gone to CSC? Did you call CSC to find out or did they send you some kind of letter indicating they have transferred your applications from CSC to NSC??

but even with this big announcement tomorrow, we still only have 140,000 visas and keep in mind USCIS has just been averaging about 100,000 per year. (so about 40,000 get wasted every year)
All all this does is to push the bottleneck further down the pipeline.
the only benefit I see is that it helps with filing of AP and EAD which does not help someone like me with my 485 already pending

I do not think there 100K people in 2006+2007 PD. Thats a wild assumption. There is only 65k quota. I think 30K or 40K labor approvals during 2 years makes more sense to me.

Do we need valid Passports?
In general a person who is in the US should have a valid and unexpired passport at all times. In addition, there is a whole loooooong list of documents that you attach to the I485- your attorney should advise you on this. The most important once for employment based immigration are documents showing legal status up until the I485 application and current offer letter from your company. There are many many more documents you need to provide...search the net for the necessary documents...
