Change the language and target too. I am thinking to draft a letter to send Home Builder Assoc and Car companies that I am not able to buy Home and Car because I am not getting loan. I need a car and home as I am paying rent every month around 1500. I am willing to pay 25% down and have credit score more than 700. No any kind of violation. Paied off first car loan. I am experienced enough to find another job in such bad economy. The only thing that I dont have is GC for which I am waiting for last 8 years. If I get GC probably I will get good loan faster and cheaper. If you lobby for us for GC probably not only me many other immigrant will get loans.
Never ever mention that it will improve economy.
Waiting for comments.
I like this idea of getting assistance from lobbyists in HBA and other assoc. They already have established their presence in Washington. If we can sell them this plan, I think something can be done. We need a horse to ride to DC.

From Kluge Pledges $400 Million To Columbia for Student Aid (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/04/11/AR2007041102183.html), Thursday, April 12, 2007
John W. Kluge, who launched his media empire with an investment in a Washington-area radio station, has pledged $400 million from his estate to Columbia University.
The promised gift, one of the largest ever from an individual to a university, will be used exclusively for student financial aid.
Kluge, 92, an immigrant from Germany who graduated from Columbia 70 years ago, served in the military and went into business in the 1940s. He was president and chairman of Metromedia Inc., overseeing a collection of television stations and various businesses including the Harlem Globetrotters. He lived large: In the 1980s, Washington Post articles described his property near Charlottesville, with a golf course designed by Arnold Palmer, a disco and pheasant hunting.
And he donated, giving money to places such as the University of Virginia and the Library of Congress. He had given more than $110 million to Columbia. He turned over his 7,000-acre Charlottesville estate to the University of Virginia.
His gift is the largest for student aid at an institution, said John Lippincott, president of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
As college tuition continues to outpace the rising cost of living, some schools have put increasing emphasis on finding ways to make education more affordable. Last year, Columbia announced that students from families earning less than $50,000 a year would get grants, not loans, to cover costs; several other schools have begun similar programs.
At a ceremony yesterday in New York to announce the gift, Kluge said that he wanted to ensure that Columbia remained a place for the best and the brightest -- and that, because its endowment was not nearly as large as many peer institutions, the university would require that support.
Philanthropy to higher education has been doubling every decade, Lippincott said. "We're now at about $28 billion a year."

Anything for EB relief ? I dont see a content in the bill language.
Nurses are part of EB. This nill has many benefits. More nurses will be out of greencard queue leaving others more chance. US has acute nurses shortage. It is well documented. There is not much shortage of IT professionals . Unemployment is so high. But nurses are in demand and it is important for the healthcare of the nation. Supporting the bill is a win win for everyone in EB wait.

To OP: You should definitely check with an immigration lawyer before you plan your trip. I don't think anyone here can give you a definite answer (unless there is someone who's gone through this him/her-self)
OP committed a crime > he paid his fine did community service > if the court thinks that's enough for his first time crime, who are we to judge?? If he repeats what he did... he wont get off the hook that easy... so I'm sure he understands what he has gotten into! lets leave it at that.

Instead of finding his faults, wouldn't it be easier to show some empathy to the point he is raising?
IV has to do something specifically for EB3 I soon or else we'll lose the confidence of a lot of supporters. 2001...are you kidding me?
We could not even pool $10K for FOIA. For lobbying, one needs lots and lots of money in the range of 100K -200K. What can IV do? Can you explain what you mean by "something'? if all of us EB3's can pool 100K, then we can request IV to do "SOMETHING". Hope every one understands this.

My wife has a H1 since oct 2006 till date she hasn't worked and hence has no pay stubs. her passport has a F2 visa. I want to convert her visa to H4. Her employer is asking for 6k to generate 3 paystubs for 3 months. I dont want to pay so much. if we go to canada to get H4 stamping will they ask for her pay stubs or just my pay stubs are enough.
Is there any chance of rejection. also can I go to canada for stamping or do i have to go to home country.
is there any site or posting that explains the process of applying for H4 in canada.
Thanks for any help
status change from H1 to H4 when she is in US, she need 2 latest pay stubs. If she is directly going for H4 stamping (India), then she dont need pay stubs.

Can somebody answer this question of mine please.
Hi,
I filed my I485 in Texas service center because at the time of filing it I was living in a state which was in TSC's jurisdiction. The application is still pending in TSC.
I have not filed any AP so far. I am filing it first time now.
Now I have moved to a state which is in Nebraska Service Center's jurisdiction. So should I file my AP in NSC or in TSC?

I have purchased 4 firearms during my nonimmigrant status, including a handgun. Nonimmigrants can generally not own firearms in the US. Though, there is an exception to the law if you possess a valid hunting license and have resided in the US for more than 90 days. I took a hunting class, which was a prerequisite for the hunting license and also had very good firearm safety information.
For long-guns, you will need some paperwork before you go to the gunshop (utility bills from at least last 90 days, hunting license, Driver's license, your I-94 number). The background check will probably be delayed a day or two while FBI checks your immigration status. Your gun seller will call you when they get the ok.
For handguns, there may be additional paperwork. I had to apply for handgun permits with the local sheriff's office. The person you first deal with will probably be unaware of the exception for individuals with hunting licenses. You will probably need to take a copy of the law (ICE has a pamphlet on firearm laws for nonimmigrants, take a copy with you) and talk to a supervisor. Once you get the permit you take the permit and your DL to the gun seller plus all the paperwork I listed for long gun purchase. Let me know if you have additional questions. Good luck.
I have lived in Nevada before. I think in that state and many other western states (where guns laws are more liberal) you have to have passport, I-94 and utility bills proving you have lived in NV for 6 months. That's it. You don't need hunting license to get a gun license.
Here is the biggest irony:
IN order to own a gun, FBI needs only 2 days to check your background.
IN order to get 485 approved, FBI takes months or years to do a background check.
I guess green-card is a more lethal weapon than a handgun.

well i dont know if they actually said that or its your own conclusions

It is important to note that for this particular sample size of 246 cases, the percentages listed above represent statistically valid figures based on generally accepted statistical reporting guidelines.
without the number of student intake doubling/trembling up to make it one
The number of foreign students has definitely increased since then. The quota is not that
big, so even a small increase like say 10% in the number of foreign students is enough to
swamp the quota.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/education/2008-11-16-foreign-students_N.htm
These numbers are truly historic," says Goli Ameri, assistant secretary of State for educational and cultural affairs. "We haven't just covered lost ground we have now surpassed" previous records.
Plus more than enrollment, it is the economy that governs how soon the quota is reached. In my experience, the economy
showed good growth after 2005, which understandably led to increased hiring.
again i dont know if thats what the anti-immi's complain

The employers will still be paying only the official prevailing wage, which is far
below the real market wage, and it will be business as usual. Again, this is the
loopholes at work, in this case in the legal definition of prevailing wage. Most
employers who are using H-1Bs as cheap labor are doing so FULLY LEGALLY.
The true rate of abuse of the H-1B program is near 100%.

GO home and stand in front of a mirror and ask yourself if your 3 year degree and a masters bought for 4k will get you a greencard in eb2.
That is what exactly I am trying to find. Not in front of a mirror. But searching in forums where I might get correct answer.
It is not about 4K Masters or 14K Masters.
I am looking for information on what credentials does USCIS look for when evaluating Masters degree. Is it the Accredition of the University, reputation of the University, Length of the degree.
I just need a well thought-out answer.
I can get Masters from well reputed south african university for well below 4K. OR there are diploma mills who sells masters for 8K which are of no worth at all.
Why r u guys looking at the cost of the degree. Give a thought about why USCIS might deny I-140 when one applies with an US Masters Degree.
If USCIS does not accept Masters Degree from Aspen which is (Nationally Accredited by DETC). then USCIS might not accept Masters Degree from any university which are acrredited by DETC..
Let me know if I am thinking anything wrong..

Does following mean they are looking at Green Card as well ?

Unnecessary delays and waiting periods points to the Green card wait time I believe.

still something is wrong. USA does not descriminate based on country of birth, in this case there is a punishment for being born in india.
I know, it is unfair and frustrating. But from legal point of view, you are mixing Employment Laws with Immigration Laws.

As long as you had an I-140 approved earlier and 180 days crossed after the RD of I-485, you are safe to move on to a new job using AC21 portability. Even if your ex-employer withdraws the support for the approved I-140, your I-485 would not denied and it would be considered on its own merits.
