I would think IT experience is the same anywhere so taking it to canada should be ok? If not there are plenty of other management jobs there. It might be a new start but in a one year timespan you will be well established.

I received a sms saying that my case status has been updated (weird they sent it @ 9:25 pm PT). I was like here comes another biometrics appointment... but still let's check the status online. To my surprise and by god's grace, case status was changed to "Card/Document Production" (still cannot believe it). I dunno what triggered this but i did contact my Congressman yesterday. My wife's status has also changed to "decision" - should move to "Card production" soon.
My suggestion to all of you - please don't lose patience and do whatever you can from your end to expedite your case. It's your GC and you've to make sure you get it. Contact I/O, infopass and congressman/senator. Don't expect anything from your lawyers as they only care about money and it is in their best interest to see your case pending (more RFEs, EADs, APs, etc).
Thanks and all the best to all of you out there still waiting for your GC.

Q.1) I understand you can't file 485 for your spouse if PD is not current but does the PD need to be current to add your spouse as a dependent on your 485 application w/o filing 485 for her?
Q.2) Q.1 raises Q.2. When the dates are no more current, is adding your spouse as a dependent on your 485 safe enuf for her to be considered for filing 485 and getting GC when the dates will be current in future.

After this step "it has to go to Rules Committee and await determinations by the Rules Committee as to how much debate will be allowed and whether floor amendments will be allowed, and if so , how many.
Then both house and senate has to vote on this bill ( if Senate have already one similar to this)
If it passed in both congress then it will go for President signature I guess.

You can keep changing employers once your I-140 is approved. You need to restart ur GC process but you can keep ur PD (if not revoked) and get a 3 year extension immediately based on the Approved I-140.
Sure it's not the best case scenario, but atleast you CAN do it. But for most married folk their spouses on H4 CANNOT work without EADs or waiting a year till the H1 quota opens. Even with the quota opening unless your spouse is into business or IT it is VERY tough to get an H1 for the spouse.
Letting h4s work in "non specific-skilled jobs" may actually work against us because they will be in direct competition with local people in those jobs and anti immigrant will be against it. I guess porting to h1 from h4 can be a good option and a feasable option.

Folks,
As a core member I thank you all for your support. IV needs your help with two things. First and foremost, our numbers need to grow. Right now we have about 6,000 members, but we all know there are far more people than that stuck in limbo due to backlogs in the legal immigration process.
Why do we need more numbers? Because when we go to talk to people on The Hill (and I live in DC and work here and I go as well), we have to convince them that we are a sizeable chunk of people in terms of our numerical strength that will vote when we become citizens. This is why we need to get working on this immediately. Talk to your family, friends and colleagues who are stuck in legal immigration backlogs, and get them to join IV. Each existing member should get at least one new member to join up. The more, the better.
Secondly, we need more members to become paying members. This is crucial, as all our work requires $$$. Saying "I'll pay when the work is done" does not help us. The work requires a steady cash flow, and while pledges are deeply appreciated, we can't operate merely on pledges. Many core members work very hard on raising money and on publicity.
So, I earnestly request your help in recruiting new members as well as strengthening our funding. Thank you!

For eg.. I was talking to my friend in India and told him about the issues here, he did not understand, he thought I am having a tough time here and told me he has some friends in US who can help me out with immigration problems. When I explained our issues to some people here, some understood and some did not, they told me they know some lawyers who are very good and can help. One of my old employer started a new company in Atlanta and contacted me and asked me to join, but I told him I cannot because I am stuck with my ppresent employer and will lose priority date blah... he did not understand that and was confused.
I had the SAME exact problem, both, with people here (indian citizens who are now american citizens) and people back home. To the point where, once i was addressing a group of my community members and a couple of Indian american people absolutely REFUSED to belive that the Govt wud give illegals a better break than they wud give us, and that it had happened in the past. It took me half an hour and quite a few examples to illustrate how that was true.
About all the confusion with the priority dates. I Myself am confused about this whole Priority Date Nonsense. I mean the part about processing 485's based on PDs makes sense. Why you cannot even APPLY makes NO sense whatsoever. I have tried making a short speech to convey the problem to friends and co-workers. Each time it ends up being so long winded and detailed that it just doesnt make it worthwhile. Midway in the conversation, u can feel the other person mentally Yawning ;)

3) House listing in only done by realtor. Give option to customer. For fun open a site for people to list their house for sale. Give them free service then charge. Live American way.
4) Make school in Village. I have made one. I enjoy supporting the school. Grow India.
5) Don't worry about GC. Do something. Registering a site takes some $35 or 40. Built you site. Use American brain.
Am I doing it? Yes.. Did I make money? Yes.
