I never saw the CPO email or status...all that got via email and online is "Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident". Does this mean no card ordered or is it kind of goes with out saying.

I don't agree with this comment. I don't have full confidence on congress to pass full CIR bill this year. After this year, the hope will get dimmer. This proposal is better than nothing. It can propably release EB2 immediately. And move EB3 forward significantly.
Although it is not passed, we should push for anything that contains some EB relief.
02/02/2007: What Did Senator Kerry Immigration Reform Bill Mean to EB Immigrants?
In highsight, the failure of the Kerry Amendment to H.R.2 to pass the Senate could be considered a relief to the EB immigrants. Review of the immigration reform bill in the H.R. will establish that the bill proposed for the employment-based immigration system practically nothing other than increasing the annual quota to 290,000. None of the provisons in the SKIL bill was reflected in the bill, including exemption of the spouses and children from from the numerical limitations, exemption of certain EB groups from the annual numerical limits, opportunity for filing I-485/765/131 for the I-140 beneficiary during the visa number retrogression, etc. etc. etc.! Had this been enacted, it would have affected the upcoming CIR bill or special legislation for Employment-Based immigration system reform. This reporter was shocked to learn that this bill provided practically no relief for the employment-based imigrants other than farm workers and the children eligible for DREAM Act bill. The bill was extremely imbalanced legislation in a way from the perspectives of the "Comprehensive" Immigration Reform.
We will see whether the Senate leaders will indeed complete and introduce the CIR proposal next month.

Just happen to see some RoW EB3 cases at Nebraska center get approved.
One is RD 06/12/2007, which is a little bit more than 06/08/2007 on the Nebraska's RD processing annouced for 3/15/2007.
The other with RD 06/15/2007
P.S: The more I look at , I see there's even one case with RD for 07/13/2007
So it's possible Nebraska will move processing date forward to at least 07/15/2007 at the next processing date annoucement.

1) Fast-track GC process for Masters degree holders from US universities. This will be the least controversial, boost admissions (and money) flowing into universities, and clear up backlog in regular GC queue. Its a win-win and most senators, congressmen have voiced support for it already. We can get very good support from University lobbyists also (if they exist!!).
I fully agree with this idea, but unfortunately this has been discussed for a long time now but none (including IV CORE) seems to be interested in pursuing this further, although we all know that this has higher changes of approval. And I am sure even the folks with no MS from US will support if for simple reason that it will help them as well if backlog and crowed is reduced by whatever means. So I assume we all (US Degree Holder or otherwise) will support this -- still no actions..

I know there are plenty of suggestions flying around and here is my 2 cent, it may or may not make too much sense, but here it is.
We can rant about the difficulties of not getting a GC, make emotional pleas of our struggles all day, but nothing talks better than money. In the current scenario nothing will grab more attention if you can show how we contribute to the US govt and the US economy in monetary terms. Nothing else will get the attention of these lawmakers like money can. ;-)
Can we put out some numbers for the lawmakers, in terms of our contribution to federal & state taxes, social security, property taxes and overall economy by way of our purchasing power home, cars, appliances, vacations, etc (all the amount that you spend in the US) and multiply these numbers by the number of folks waiting to get GC or who have the GCs. I am sure when you add all this up it will be a significant number, which is bound to catch some attention. Assuming the majority of us make more than the average American, all these figures will definitely standout.
Also propose a one time fee of $10,000 to apply for GC right away. I am willing to pay this fee if USCIS can grant me a GC or provide us a way to stay and work legally in this country with no tie in to the employer. This could be a significant amount of revenue, especially when all lawmakers are looking to reduce the deficit and raise some income. As it is they are regularly increasing the visa fees to pay for some bill to the other like the 9/11 workers healthcare bill, etc. If a 100,000 folks(not sure how many are there in total) like us cough up $10,000 that could equal 1 billion. May seem small amount compare to the US deficit, but when you add up our total contribution it is significant. This may be totally outlandish, but I think something on this line is worth talking about. Like I said, nothing talks better than money.
Not sure if there have been other similar ideas, but if we can compile a few pages of such information with numbers, graphs, comparative charts etc and hand them out to the lawmakers it may help.
Comments and feedback welcome. May be this is totally a dumb idea, but if the admins think it makes sense willing to discuss and prepare something. Also this post is not meant to begin a debate or to distract us from our goal but just some thoughts.
PS: Have contributed in the past and intend to participate (financially and in person) on the Advocacy day.
Currently GC's are being sold for, more like, 500k (EB5 quota).. maybe we should be haggling to bring that down to 10000 or something, stating "startup" argument, and also the fact that it doesn't really take 500k to open a business that subsequently generates employment in the e-age. Some slogan like "untie our hands" ?

It is generally a good idea to be able to maintain a conversation when you jog. The same rule applies to walking. So walk at a pace which allows you to talk to yourself as you walk:)

I have a question here. Since TSC processing time is 04/30/2007 and NSC is 06/08/2007. Does that mean even EB-1 will have to wait until the processing time to their RD ?
eg, If you are EB-1 just file your 485 this month, but the processign center time not get to 04/2008 for another 2 years, then even you are EB-1 which is always current(for right now), you still not able to get your GC in two years ?

Those of you that are in the fence on whether to support IV or not, see below, our adversaries are not sitting on the fence, they are mobilized and will be in DC the same week as us advocating for the exact opposite of what we want. Please consider this and support IV.
Never ceases to amaze me how well funded and organized our adversaries are. More the reason to make the sacrifice and be there representing EB-immigrants!
Is any sort of relief worth $100 to you? It sure is to me.

50 Talk Radio Hosts to Gather in Washington for National "Town Hall" on Immigration
WASHINGTON, March 23, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) announces April 6 and 7 as the dates for Hold Their Feet to the Fire 2011. Fifty talk radio hosts from all across the United States, led by Roger Hedgecock of Radio America Networks, are scheduled to participate in Hold Their Feet to the Fire 2011, making it the largest immigration "town hall" of the airwaves to date. This year's event marks the fifth time FAIR has organized and hosted a live radio row devoted to the discussion of immigration policy.
The fifty broadcasters will spend two days interviewing members of Congress, immigration reform experts, and law enforcement personnel. In addition to the broadcast component, dozens of activists from across the country will be in Washington to meet their elected representatives to urge them to enact immigration reforms that protect and serve the interests of the American people.
Among the key issues to be discussed by participants at Hold Their Feet to the Fire 2011 are:
The need to enact mandatory use of E-Verify by all U.S. employers to protect American workers from losing jobs to illegal aliens.
The refusal of the Obama administration to effectively enforce existing immigration laws.
The mounting costs of illegal immigration at the federal and local level.
Public opposition to all amnesty or legalization proposals for illegal aliens.
The need to reduce overall levels of immigration to the United States.
Never ceases to amaze me how well funded and organized our adversaries are. More the reason to make the sacrifice and be there representing EB-immigrants!

ChrisRock, Raju & other EB3 members must realize as long as members like I_Got_Skillz are here who are lurking just to ruin any EB3 conversation, it is very difficult to come up with a solution.
Also, the idea that an EB2 is more skilled and EB3 is not, is wrong since EB2s are nothing but the same qualification with a few more years of experience and EB3s are the same but who have been misguided by the attorneys when retrogression was never there.
Example, in my case, I have a masters, 7 years of experience before starting my green card app. Currently, I have a total of 15 years of experience as of today working in various domains.
In my opinion if you are looking for a solution which is more radical but practical, it should be in a way where there is a highly skilled category which should be more like EB1 and the rest. I think EB2 should be eliminated and merge both EB3 & EB2 candidates and do a FIFO processing. Isn't this the way most of the countries in rest of the world gave their process?
These are all changes which cannot be done due to politics, but in my opinion is the right approach.
Even some of the IV state chapter leaders etc are people with EB2 apps and they shoot down anything which works to their disadvantages.
It is only the IV Core & a few other members which really care about the backlog irrespective of category.
Please note, I am not naming any state chapter leaders in particular, but I have observed via threads & posts how their line of thoughts are.

Here is Ron's reply for the questions/concern
Almost every time I have made a specific complaint, they have responded by resolving the case right away in order to make the whole thing go away. It wouldnt surprise me to see the same thing here.
I agree. The last time I spoke to one of the admins he said that we will have to add our Case Numbers to make our letter/request more strong. This is understandable because otherwise how would they know whether we made up the names/list or if its real.
I doubt that there will be any implications if we add our cases, it would give them a reason investigate or inquire why Atlanta is taking so long, to say the least.

Hi
Can I file for I-485 while I am waiting for I-140 approval. My PD is current under eb2 and my I-140 was filed on Jan-2007. I am going to upgrade to PP for I-140 but since lots of people will start going to file for PP, it is very much likely that NSC will issue RFE to reduce there workload. So my question is while I wait for I-140 approval, can I file I-485?

You can use that labor. Here is how you would proceed.
Comply with the advt requirements and whatever else is pending - in couple of months you will have your old labor approved - once old labor is approved , just follow the process normally as you would do.
Since both labors were filed in same category , you dont need to do PD porting or anything. Life is pretty simple for you ( wrt PD porting ).

Please read this post by gcnirvana for all those feeling left out:
There are so many 'Thank you' threads running and its hard to keep track of everything. Anyways, I posted this elsewhere and am proud to post it again here. Read on....
I was just curious as to how many from Core Team will benefit from today's news. So I looked at the core team's GC details and here is the summary:
1. 8 out of 12 Core Team Members WILL NOT BENEFIT from today's news.
2. Because 6 of them are stuck in BEC
3. 2 of them are in the final stages of their GC.
But still they fought for this cause and never ever felt 'Why should I care'! Tears came running down when I looked at the details. You are just awesome. Though I am thankful today...I am thankful for the day I found this site and am thankful to god almighty for giving me an opportunity to know you all and work with you guys.
I also sincerely hope and wish that you all will get out of the mess you are in right now and we are with you till the end.
I vaguely remembered profiles of core members, but from what I could recall, I knew that most of them will not benefit from July visa bulletin.
This is indeed admirable. In today's world, we still have people who are so selfless. Core team you are heroes. I am very sure that life will pay you for this in one way or the other. Beyond GC, there is life and you guys are showing us how to live it. We are proud of you.

You might want to add some important words there. Otherwise you will be at the tail of 12 million people queue and god knows how long would that take them to clear.
There are a big disadvantage for them.
- They will not be able to milk us of those dollars on EAD/AP renewals year after year
Just 2 simple things...
1, Green card to anyone who has been "legally" employed in the US for 5 Consecutive years( can provide W2 for the past 5 years)
2, Citizenship for someone who has been in the US "legally" for 10 years.
1.1, Once this provision kicks in normal approval within a specific time frame. say 6/12 months.
1.2, They can also tie the 5 GC years with some minimum salary/prevailing age with region of employment.
Advantages to us..
- Removes all the stuff to do with country impartiality.
- Makes us independent of employer.
- Makes us competitive.
Advantages for them..
- Simple
- Provides proof that the individual has been productive to the economy/country in the past.
- They may wanna tie Citizenship with the 40 Credits from Social Security or something if that helps.
- Removes loopholes which assists in driving down wages as employee would like to make sure he is employed enough to meet the prevailing wage for the year. (Drive the complain that we bring down rates etc)
There might be more advantages, but I just wrote down a few.
