Yes, that is right, I said “plight of EB2-India”.
I am a passive observer of these forums. But some of the ridiculous notions floating around here have motivated me to vent. First and foremost, the law as written is highly favorable to people in EB3 categories, even from India. Here is how...
Take my example (and there are thousands like myself)....came to the US 8 years ago, spent 5 years working day and night to earn a PhD on a low (barely sustainable) stipend, got FIRST job saw decent money for the first time 6 years after I came.
Now, compare this to a person working an EB3-job for the last 8 years. Not only does this person do a real job that hopefully provides a respectable income but this person also has the option of moving to EB2 after 5 years of experience. So, at the end of the day in 2008; this person comes out ahead of me in terms of money, in terms of priority date (if ported) and most likely in terms of GC.
There are complaints all over the forum which have the stink of pretentiousness such as “oh..i am a poor EB3 waiting for n number of years” etc etc. What you guys seem to forget is that YOU are NOT an EB3, it is your JOB that is EB3. You have all the opportunities that were/are available to a person who sweated it out in the university system here to gain more qualifications and get an EB2 job. You CHOSE not to. The general discussion seems to center around cribbing about the US immigration system (Immigration by the way is a privilege defined by laws, not a birthright) and then blaming the EB2 crowd when they finally see the system implement the law as intended in the first place (horizontal spillover rules).
All these posts that refer to “my career is over because my gc is delayed” are nothing but a pathetic excuse. Law of supply and demand....if you have a skillset that is valuable, you will be fine with or without GC anywhere in the world. It takes a bunch of documents to remain here legally, all you need is a passport to go back if the system here seems so bad.
For all the attacks that are bound to happen, here is the fodder.....this is probably my first and last post, I haven’t contributed a dime to IV, will work here as long as I like it and if not, India is a great country and provides enough opportunities for any skillset !!
most ridiculous argument and surprising because it is coming from a Phd. Surely, you must have defended your doctoral thesis, or did'nt you have one ? :p
The people who go for Phds should know that they are sacrificing short-term future cash flows in exchange for a far superior long-term cash flows. The others "EB3" go for a more milder but increasing series of future cash flows.
To each his own!!! But when people say that "my career is over because my gc is delayed" UNDERSTAND that they are venting their frustration. It does not mean that their career is really over.
And, like you, they will also work here as long as they like it and if not, go back...

Hey Sam.....
The word is out to Santa Clara University Int'nl Students. One concern.... Im getting responses from guys from other nationalities... do we need to worry ?
All nationalities are and will be effected by current/proposed GC/H1B/Opt laws. All nationality F1s should make serious attempts to figure out these consequences.
Please inivite ALL nationalities!

Please contact your U.S. Representative through the Capitol Switchboard (202-224-3121) and ask him/her to do everything possible to stop the passage of three bills in the House Judiciary Committee today: H.R. 5882, a bill that would add an additional 550,000 permanent green cards; H.R. 5924, which would add 20,000 additional foreign nurses per year for three years (plus their families); and H.R. 6020, which would grant amnesty to the illegal-alien spouses, children, brothers, sisters and parents of all 23 million U.S. military veterans

I have tried to put my career goals ahead of the dollar conversion rate (not always easy). Because i took up new roles and salary , i have had to restart the GC process a couple of times. As a result i am still without GC despite being here for more than 10 years and having two masters degrees from US. I am sure this is a common story here.
I am heading towards a another change and now have very little patience for restarting the process. I am glad many people on this forum have volunteered to help pack. I will be getting in touch with you in a few months.
That there are frustrated people with opportunities outside the US, and they will leave. This is a great example. However this is still a silly poll. It does not ask questions that will bring that out. It talks about leaving to prove something to someone. People did not come here to prove things to the US and will not leave for that reason.
On another note I heard this was an activist organization. A peek at the threads shows a lot of whining and complaining about being asked to be active. maybe I heard wrong.

It wouldn't hurt to verify which 140 is getting picked up. I got paranoid because when I contacted USCIS through service request, POJ and ncsc follow up email in September, I came to know that my application is awaiting visa number when clearly dates for my PD were current since Sept 01. Then I tried calling USCIS repeatedly until I got confirmation that both 140 were indeed in place.
After I initiated these requests, my app moved from "awaiting visa number" to " assigned to supervisor" after October 1st. In fact, on Oct 6th,there was LUD on 485 and on Oct 28th, a Hard LUD on my approved 140.
InfoPass won't help much. Usually they just brush people off saying that wait till your PD is current but IO's on phone give more information.

Did anyone notice that GCTest's only interest was to start a fight between EB2 and EB3 folks.
See how he opened up a thread and threw a match to light the fire so that everyone starts fighting amongst themselves and he did not post again in his own thread .
United we stand and divided we fall. This is true since life started and will be true until the end of time.
If that was the only intent we would let it go. He has done it the second time.

when someone can leave me a foul message why shouln't I..!
to avoid abuse of the system..let the dot givers identity be known to all!
i just raised the question...i am not doubting the intention of IV!
true...its the attitude...why is eveyonne taking it personally! (singhsa3)
It not just matter of Idea but it is the matter of attitude. It is one thing to generate thought provoking ideas and other thing to say things like
"So to avoid sounding stupid and foolish and desperate when you call".
By the way "pointless" is one of the those people who have been leaving comments like "chuteya" when giving red dots.
How do I know that ? a regular member may not be able to view this information but certainly moderators can.
So the intentions and very credibility of this person ("pointless") is in question!

Nixstor,
It is important to do the homework and choose the school that fits your needs, if you want to get into finance or marketing or... go to a school that is know to be good in that field, you will still meet many people in other fields but the majority will be in the field you are interested on.
BusinessWeek website is good for reseach, but don't limit yourself to that.
http://www.businessweek.com/bschools/04/index.html
Getting accepted is the most difficult part. Once you are in you can pretty much say you have the MBA. The GMAT is literally a pain, many of the questions are tricky and you need to learn the tricks.
Try to go to a name school, you are investing enough money not to go to a school that is not going to help you move a step ahead (through the name of the school or through the people you are going to meet). I have a friend that goes to a no-name school and they just accept anyone so the friends you make are definitely not that ambitious.
NOTE: the CEO of my company (6K employees) got his MBA at Wharton (he's a PhD as well) and he hired as CTO one of his friends from school.

for options trading...is there any site you will suggest which provides daily alerts???
Many sites. What kind of alerts are you looking for? Vols? Greeks? You can also customize most of the alerts depending on spreads you might be trading. This is possible even in simple option accounts with Level 4 approval.

USCIS is making every effort to address the delay in its data entry and fee receipting process. The prioritization of data entry for specific form-types was a proactive measure on the part of Service Centers to address the unprecedented level of H-1B filings received on April 2nd and 3rd, 2007, as well as the unprecedented level of filings for other immigration benefits. USCIS would like to assure its customers that the delay in data entry and fee receipting will not affect Change of Status or Extension of Stay eligibility, assuming all other eligibility requirements are satisfied. USCIS would also like to assure its customers that per existing policies and procedures, requests for Premium Processing Service will continue to be processed within 15 days. USCIS wishes to assure all customers that the original received date (the date which the document is date stamped) will be honored and recorded on the receipt notice. This date will appear in the "Received Date" box on Form I-797, Notice of Action. The received date is different from the "Notice Date", which also appears on Form I-797. The Notice Date is the date the receipt notice was actually generated.

... work with the congressmen and senators.
What will you do if you have convinced ALL lawmakers but they still do not vote for you because of public opposition generated by Lou DoGGS? The FACT (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showpost.php?p=98473&postcount=595) (NOT opinion) on immigration: In evident pain and remorse, a Republican Senator confessed to a Hispanic group from Maryland that his vote to kill immigration reform was a profile in political cowardice..
Todays New York's Id (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showpost.php?p=194883&postcount=1455) example:
Mr. Spitzers decision to abandon his plan comes as a poll released Tuesday by Siena College found that seven in 10 New York voters who had heard about it and more than 80 percent of the 625 registered voters polled had opposed it. It also found that for the first time, more people viewed the governor unfavorably than favorably.
The governor and his aides said that they were not reacting to the slumping poll numbers, but acting pragmatically. That the dispute had even tripped up Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, who stumbled to answer a question about it in a presidential debate, was symptomatic of where we were, he said.
The issue was gaining traction not based on thoughtful discourse, but based on sound bites and less than careful analysis, he added.
