This is not a bad idea.
If everyone think this is a good idea, then we need to do this with a little more planning than the flower campaign.
We can route the pizzas to hospitals and orphanages, shelter for the homeless etc also.

If USCIS recaptures lost visas (estimated to be in the range 300k-600k), all of us will be current. IV should start a drive to push for the recapture ....even if it is partial, it would help everybody in a big way.

If you want to change the employer with in 180 days of filing 485 - there is a risk involved. If your 485 approved with in the 180 days then you will get in to trouble. If your 485 is pending more than 180 days - irrespective of when you changed employer before 180 days over or after 180 days over are does not matter - and you will be safe.
If you change your employer with in 180 days - then you have to pray to the GOD for not getting approval with in 180 days of filing.
I think it answers lot of lenghty questions either one way or the other.

Trying to wrap my head around 245i cases. All primary applicants you were physically present in the US on Dec 21, 2000 were eligible to file 485 before April 2001 (with approved labor + approvable 140). Spouses and children of those primary applicants who were not in the country have to apply using CP. So the data provided by USCIS does not contain all those CP applicants. BUT as the dates were current till 2004, USCIS/DOS HAD to know the exact number per country as consulates have to report CP applicant numbers. The only possibility for the discrepancy you mention is that USCIS horribly screwed up and we may have hundreds of CP applicants who are derivatives of 245i. Conspiracy theory ?? LOL. Man, we have to just laugh at our plight.
No racism intended here but historically speaking number of immigrants from Mexico/Caribbean/China probably had more numbers in 245i than India. So, you question remains interesting inspite of the CP applicants possibility I mention above.

It's funny how many types of personalities you see in everyday life. I remember in my early childhood days there always use to be one guy at the least in my class who would do things that would freak everybody out....usually he would be the teacher's cutest student. Do things in this order -
1. Find a job first.
2. Secure a good apartment at new job's location.
3. If you need a better car buy one right now.
4. Get some credit cards.
5. Let your home go to foreclosure.
It is a financial decision. Every once in a while, most of us go to different stores and ask them to match the price for the item that we had purchased earlier. If they do not match the price then we return that item. Don't we? Do not get sentimental. Just walk off! Your credit history would get screwed but if you plan it the way I said above, you will be fine. Good luck.
And it won't affect your GC.

In such trying times its awesome to find individuals in the media willing to lend a receptive ear to the hardships faced by all of us and write a wonderful news article on it. Its even more significant especially because when people who should be listening to our concerns and who have the ability to address these issues have turned deaf ears.

Pls explain how your stmt can be true. IF a person does not have a transit visa how does one clear immigration...hmmmmm. TV is just another way to make money for transiting thru the country. The sad part is we don't even get to move between terminals to proceed to the next flight. Agreed one has to do some due diligence before traveling but people do make mistakes. No one is arguing abt the TV but for the process and difficulty in obtaining one. Enough said.

The reason transit visas are required in the UK is that many passengers with an intention to transit the UK have stayed. The transit visa was introduced as a way of making sure (as much as possible) that the passenger has the intention and the ability to transit the UK and to enter a third country.
The list of nationals that are required to have a visa to transit the UK represents a list of countries where there has been a particular problem with over stayers. It is not race based, but merely an effort to target the problem.
It really does not matter what anyone thinks about the transit visa requirement because it is UK law. Everyone has a choice whether or not to transit the UK. Going back to the original post, to book a ticket without researching visa requirements and then trying to deflect personal responsibility by blaming the visa requirement is ridiculous.

So, their fight is primarily geared in support of undocumented (read "Illegal") people.
We already have enough problems educating common people and lawmakers about the differences between legal and illegal immigrants. Let us not add fuel to the fire ourselves.

Will you guys stop this madness atleast now?. If US started bending rules for people who send flowers, then everyone will try to manipulate the system. There is a lot of difference between the circumstances of originla gandhigiri and now. :rolleyes: That was our country back then, for crying out loud.We are in a foriegn country and the issuance of visa a previlege not a right.Why cant you guys understand this simple fact?. We are not stupid. But the flower campaign does have a purpose bigger than 485 filing. Its called media attention. Now kindly stop complaining, trust IV leadership that has run this org successfully for past 18 months, and please help us by doing your part.

If you want to make changes in the existing law, we have to do far more than a letter campaign. In the coming months, there maybe opportunities where we can try provisions and bills as we see any progress on immigration reform initiatives. Lobbying effort for big changes will have to be huge.
The most important work we can do at this time is to increase our numbers. We must get as many high skilled immigrants on H1B, EAD, F1, J1, H4 etc visas under Immigration voice. Once we have good support, we can try to work on various projects that helps everyone. We must try to spread the word about immigrationvoice on various forums, websites, communities etc and seek everyone's participation.
Why are we not on Facebook? Or are we there??

Bhai logon... mera bhi number aagaya... I got the the approval email and status changed to Decision (for me and my wife).

FYI: I opened SR on Aug 4th... Yesterday I got response that my GC is approved (but the status online was still Initial review) and now today morning my status changed and I got approval email and an SMS too.
Given the above, I seriously think SR works. They must have checked my SR and then approved my GC.
