Hi John, thanks for bringing this to the attention of our members. Lets hope everybody finds time to call Sen Cornyn to thank him for introducing this bill. Another thing I wanted to say is that, our members are all busy with 485 filing and stuff so we can expect a response only after the 17th of August when the excitement of 485 filing is over. Even though it was defeated it doesn't seem to be a very hated idea by the majority since 5 more votes would have made it safe. So there still seems to be a positive factor lingering around for us the "legal immigrants". Hope we are able to capitalize on it soon. IV is infact becomming stronger and more influential thanks to the dedicated efforts of the leader and the members. Pls keep up the spirit for all of us. We need vigilant people like you to do the work to spot opportunities and failures for the community. Thanks.

If my priority date is retrogressed at the time of processing my EAD and AP, will USCIS keep the EAD and AP on hold? Or will they process EAD and AP and hold the I485?
The reason the processing dates matter is because by the time USCIS gets to process our I765 and I131 the dates would have retrogressed and then what happens is a million dollar ?

I read the views .. that talking to lawmakers makes the difference.
I'm a little surprised here.
The long wait for the GC is an age old issue. I know folks who came here in the 80's and 90's and went through the same issues. There were brief periods when the process did speed up .. but by and large it has been the way it is.
Lawmakers can say .. 'oh I did not know it took 7 years to get the green card." But I find that tough to believe that no one knew this until we went and said this to them? (h1 quotas get extinguished in a day .. and everyone knows this ..
The situation is still the same. CIR also puts out there .. the need for Immigration reforms. So pretty much everybody out there knows what the issue is. Now what can we do to make them move on it quickly.
I agree that getting together educated folks is difficult .. since they have no Union (like workers) and are not as close as blue collared folks. And that's the main reason why an illegal immigrant rally can get a million people on the street .. whereas a legal immigrant one gets in a 1000 people or 2000.
To summarize:
1. I think people in concern know that the immigration process is inefficient
2. Unless there is sufficient sustained pressure, nothing can change.
I would say this .. the question is this ... how can we get a huge rally going in key cities in successive weeks, so we get noticed and we can send across a stronger message?

In America, people gets recognized when they offers a solution for a problem faced by the country. Whiners are (who write to Bush or Senators) do not get noticed nor are respected.

Are there any transfered cases which got approved? I am yet to see one. My service center is TSC but my case starts with WAC as it was sent to Calif for data uploading ...my bad luck...I will be current next month but i doubt any transfered cases will get approved...

Hello,
i am lawful permanent resident. I want to bring my parents here permanently. I got nobody in India to take care of my parents.
When i was small, my parents took care of me. When i need them, they are their for me.
Now my parents need me. But i am not their for them. I feel very guilty and sad. I want to bring my parents in US. So i can take care of them.
How can i bring my parents permanently.

i saw some petition signed by many Indians for this request. Can somebody please go forward with this.
Current president will understand our request and help us. He is very nice and kind person. He loves family and his mother in law lives with his family. He knows values of grand parents.
Indians live with family, that makes Indian family stronger and less divorce. And Indian kids are well taken care by grand parents. So they are well behaved and best kids.
We need this permission. Please work together and get this permission.

Trust me my friend, I have seen it happen all the time, from large Telecom firm to Govt., its always there, most of the consultants just doesn't come to know about it, but the cut for the managers is there in some form, almost always. Why do each manager has a specific vendor through whom they want to hire most of the time? What else is the reason for the client to pay the consulting company $180/hr but they won't give 'valueablehurdle' anything more than $50-60/hr?
On a different note, now that NSG approved the waiver, most desi uncles, some of them are also owners of desi consulting companies will claim that they are the father of Nuclear deal. These bastards (sorry for my french) always oppose any GC fix and they tell their favorite congressman/senator (each has atleast one favorite politician for whom they do fund raisers) that gc backlog is not an important issue for the community. India Abroad, Times of India, rediff and other desi portals/newspapers will write 'Oliver North' style stories about these desi uncles knowing well that companies like GE etc put their weight behind the deal as it will create commerce to commerce over $20 billion/yr. But desi uncles/orgs will not stop claiming to be the father of nuclear deal. The fact is, most of these desi uncles made noise not because they wanted to do something for their country of birth, they are doing it because they think that if the nuclear deal passes, they can play middle man for US companies to sell the technology/material to Indian companies/govt. Most of the so called 'united voice of Indian-Americans on the Hill' organization's goal is to make big bucks by playing 'middle man' for companies wanting to sell technology to India. And as always, just as 'valuablehurdle''s client (paying $180/hr) Indian govt. will pay double the cost. These desi companies have squeezed blood of people waiting for gc, but now they think its time to move on to play big game with the big boys. These desi uncles/orgs are going nuclear.... time for Rediff and India Abroad to play Oliver North. Sometimes the line between capitalism and cycle of corruption is extremely blur. The problem is, these desi uncles/orgs claim to be representatives of entire Indian-American community, sometimes the entire immigrant community. They don't know more than 100 people, but they claim to be the leaders of all 2.5 million indian americans. Send her application in the day ur PD becomes current (it may take many years unless congress passes some law) it is highly unlikely that they will approve ur application in one day.

It's destiny that I came across your posting.. like you, I am an RN waiting for the DS230 approval also since Oct.2006.. believe it or not ,I was also informed by the NVC to resubmit a new DS230 because the previous one I submitted last year was already outdated. Now, I sent them the updated DS230 last June 27,2007.
I really want to ask if in your opinion, or if you have some positive information regarding this�do we still have a chance of receiving an embassy interview and medical exam schedule before October 2007?
I would really appreciate a response.. thank you

The quota is over and hence the chances of interview schedule before Oct 2007 is not possible. However depending on the origin of country, EB category , priority category you should stand a good chance of interview being scheduled for FY2008. My gut feeling is EB3 ROW would open up with Some 2005 year and EB3 Ind would open up wiht some 2003 and EB2 Ind would open up with some 2004 .
