I was just thinking if it would help to gain more publicity if this site goes by a different name. On several instances while calling lawmakers or other people, the moment I mention immigrationvoice.org they think it is related to Illegal immigration / CIR etc. I need to stress that it is about legal immigration.
Even the flyers don't catch enough attention

my employment is terminated a month ago. I still need to file h1 transfer to the GC sponser. I am single
I am told that H1 can be transferred only with in 10 days-20 days or so. which means that it is already a month. so in case if I dont get the h1 or if I have an issue in the H1 transfer, is that the end of my being H1.
If I were to be on H1 again is it going to come under the cap along with those new H1 filers? I still have one and half years to complete 6 years.
I have a fall back to EAD though based an approved 140 and 180 days past 485.
But how do I get the spouse then???

Regarding your pay: if you did not get paid for the time you worked, do you still have the timesheets you submitted at client-site? If you have them prepare a complaint with DOL, attach the timesheets and clearly mention what has been going on since you completed work and any emails or phone bills showing calls between you and employer. Clearly mention your employer threatened to sue you if you pursue opportunities outside his company.
Filing a complaint is easy, cheap and risk-free - do not be afraid - and do not be rude - just do it

I had similar question some time back (minimum and max salary alowable).
As far as I recall he told me to stay within 65K to 120K.
Best to consult with lawyer.
What is the safe range of percentage increase in the salary with a pending I-485?
We know that too much salary increase will make the adjudicator question about the 'similarity' of the job. But how much is too much?

My Lawyer does whatever my employer tells him. They never give any receipt notice or approval notice to employees.
They did not even let me file my EAD and AP along with I-485.
I can file EAD/AP myself but I'm worried they might not give me the receipt notice of my I-485 filed in july, in a last ditch effort to prevent me from fleeing(I don't yet have any intention btw) or atleast make it difficult for me.
I'm sure there would be many in this situation.
Any thoughts what can be done?

You do not need a lawyer. Just make sure CIS has your correct mailing address and keep watching your cases regularly for RFEs.
In the event of an RFE, you can respond on your own most of the times. If you think it requires a complex response or if you are not confident, you can hire a lawyer at that point to respond to that RFE.
I would even say handling your case on your own is safer as I know some cases where the lawyer goofed up by not responding to RFEs. The applicant was not even watching his case status as he had left everything to the attorney and he had no idea about the RFE.
It is also not necessary to inform CIS about your job change unless there is a possibility that your previous employer may revoke your 140.

I'm glad I found this post. I own a D70 as of last September and I too was wondering if perhaps I was (a) going completely crazy or (b) just plain sucked and should give up. Don't get me wrong, I still classify myself as a newbie but I DO know what focus is, how to get it and what it should look like and I've thought on numerous occasions while veiwing a soft image "what the hell, I was dead on with this one".
I have to yet to upgrade my firmware, does this fix the problem (providing it isn't me) or do I still have to take the camera in for repair?

One should remember the history of immigration in US. US histroy is more than 200 years. Most of the immigrants came/occupied the US, entered illegally. Legal immigration is still very new to US, by considering lenghth of immigration in US. Furthermore, till 1965, asians were not allowed legally in US to get GC. They do not like law obeying asians. This is the history. This is what it is going to be in future too.

This should not impact legal immigrants. Legal immigrants always will have some valid documents like Visa or I94 or EAD. So what is the problem in this? The point number 2 may create some issues but generally none of H1b people will be impacted.
I knew that slowly the antis are gaining more and more strength as a result the noose is getting tighter and tighter around us (and will eventually reach our neck). I didn�t expect this fast:
Texas change in driver�s license laws in last 6 months:
1) We knew that instead of the usual 6 years expiry date, they now want to see proof of visa documents and the expiry date is set to the expiry of the visa document.
2) If visa document is expiring less than 6 months, then we CANNOT get a drivers license.
Driver�s license laws - Latest Changes:
1) The driver�s license that all non-citizens will get will be Vertical and NOT the usual horizontal. This license looks very different than the conventional Texas DL and it also has to ominous word �temporary visitor�. I was okay with word being mentioned, but making the drivers license look so different from normal (vertical and not horizontal is taking it too far). I am worried about possible discrimination everywhere wherein we show our IDs.
2) Chance of Address not possible online: Previously, its only during license renewal, you had to get that new unique non-citizen card. Now, they are not allowing even change of address online! The website says, we don�t qualify for change of address online as well. This means that even for change of address, we have to go to the DL office and surrender of our old good unexpired DLs.
Any inputs? Texans? Others? What have been your experiences? In other states, can you change your address online without any hassle?

It is not about money. I have absolutely no problem giving even 100$s per month for the cause if I know how my hard earned money is being spend. Actions like deleting threads, banning users just for asking reports, makes people uncomfortable. I am the same as you. I would rather trust IV than an Immigration lawyer, and we don't have any other viable option. Every member here is a high skilled immigrant and there is no public Company or business doing this.

IV has details for all previous years and in the video they have given justification. Most other Advocacy groups are run by lawyers not immigrants. None of them give a day-today expense report. I have also learnt the hard way what the priorities of immigration attorneys are.

How can it be RIR? your PD is March 2007 and there was no RIR application available. At that time it could be applied only in perm.
