If we don't make it clear in our replies that we do not condone any actions that break the law, we are just making it easier for anti-immigration people to easily point fingers at us and claim we are all drug peddlers or criminal.

I am starting this thread exclusively to know and understand all kinds of problems faced by our legal non-immigrant visa community, does not matter if it is minor or major, just put your experience here. There is a HUGE difference between being TOLERATED and BEING LIKED.
I am sure you have the intelligence to see the difference.
You can "tolerate" someone you don't like, but you can not "welcome" someone whom you don't like. I for one, donlt want to be in the "tolerated" category.

thanks for your supportive words for CP filers now CP filers need some relief as they are not able to get an EAD/AC21. I think we could ask to allow CP filers to file 485 with out having dates current and conserdering their CP filing date to get EAD and AC21.

What's is Frist's motive in trying to trip the McCain - Kennedy or Specter's Markup? What's his point?
Looks like in Congress, each senior senator is a leader of his own and don't tolerate or cannot see eye to eye on more serious work of fellow senators or congressman. The idea is to trip the whole effort to treat illegal immigrants as humans. In Frist and its ilk's opinion, they want the services of illegal (and legal) immigrants, but this great country doesn't want to give any benefits to the illegal aliens in return. It's is so farcical, only the feudal minded Frists' can do it. Many in this country want 'closure' for this and 'closure' for that, but they deny all relief to these illegal aliens. Our goal of relief from retrogression and to increase visa numbers is unfortunately tied to such 'comprehensive bills'.
I want users of this forum to think about it, ruminate on it and write letters to law makers, newspapers etc.

Those who complains about curruption in back home, will NOT try to improve system back home and also in case of GC processing, their contribution will be only "Negative comments" but NO constructive approach to improve ANY systems..

Dear friends, why do you seek to start bashing your country at the first opportunity you get. THere are people in the Indian Govt who are negotiating on your behalf to make sur you get your money back.
THen on the question of paying bribes to get money out of PPF - something is better than nothing. Why complain. If it is so bad, go back and fight to fix the system, otherwise stop maoning. India is the only country that will welcome you if you are kicked out of here. I remember i used to pay 50 INR per ticket for a railway seat, now i go online and book a ticket. Things change they take time and patience.
Only those people who have NEVER bribed anyone to get stuff done illegally, or out of turn should speak. And i know there is no one, since you are in US and came on a passport and we all know how passports are obtained.
You left india, want to stay away, so leave it alone. When you are kicked out of everywhere, the doors will still be open, just keep some cash for the gatekeeper.
Lets discuss whether this swap will be possible or not, or what the loopholes are.

I will be sending the following note to my senator and have already posted it to WhiteHouse.gov. I urge all those screwed by the ongoing retrogression to do the same.
"I am writing to inform you of how the country based quotas imposed on Employment Based green cards are unfair and totally illogical. When I immigrated to the US, I believed that this country was a meritocracy where you were judged based on your abilities and qualities. These country based quotas reward people depending on where they or their ancestors were born. This causes people from India and China to wait over a decade to get a green card whereas someone from another country with similar or lesser abilities can obtain permanent residence in half that time.
Since these EB category based green cards are awarded for professional skills, imposing a country based quota just does not make any sense. I urge you to work with Congress and change this discriminatory policy and reinforce that America is truly a society that celebrates meritocracy."

Today, four members of IV met with 3 staffers from Dianne Feinstein’s office in San Francisco.
Two constituent services representatives, who deal with immigration problems on a daily basis (helping people with labor cert, I-140, I-485, security check etc problems) and one assistant field representative who interfaces with the Senator’s staff in DC on a whole host of issues.
We spent 1.5 hours with them. We went through our presentation, answering questions and giving examples all the way. Then we spent some time talking about how they could help us, suggestions about what IV should do, and how we could work with them. All in all it was an excellent meeting – they were riveted through out – asked lots of questions and were very supportive.
TAKEAWAYS

• Ask how you can follow up with them, what they would like you to do
• Write to thank them for their time and reiterate your basic points

Call your senator and explain your situation. I have done so in the past after I lost all papers. I have received drivers license on the basis of only photo copies.
Thanx for your suggestion.. DMV agreed after going up several managers to move the status check date 6 months away for me and my wife. I am planning to renew EAD and use that next time.. the stupidity will be paying the huge EAD fee for my wife just for driver license purpose even though she's not planning to work any time soon.

A letter from the client company sponsoring the project and a copy of the contract between the U.S.-based petitioner and the client company, stating the timing, terms and agreement for your project.
Consulting companies exists for the reason that clients won't make an offer to the candidate unless he is already in US.
Before starting to blame consulting companies, ask yourself a question.
How many of you got a job offer from a US company ( non-consulting) when you were in India ?
Either you came to US through a consulting company or you were a student in US.

:) This happens like clockwork after every successful IV event. Infact, we have been waiting for such posts to appear, especially from junior members who have joined recently and its not a surprises that they have anonymous profiles ;)
Guys calm down and don't be defensive. You don't have to explain your successes to anyone. Lets be smart about this and lets learn from our past experiences.
That some anonymous member is asking such questions demonstrates that people who oppose IV agenda are usually arm-chair critics. They have absolutely no idea how phenomenal this event was.

Also they say those who not picked on Master quota(Advanced Degree exemption) will also get a chance on pick from regular quota...as per the released article...this is a good sign for F1's esp..
