During our 485 filing the lawyers had informed us that making exact size color copies of any official documents (including DL) is illegal. They had asked me to increase/decrease the size by 20-25% which is perfectly legal.

I think we should not care 'Is Murthy doing for her publicity / money?' as long as it serves our purpose. We should respect people who are trying to help us . and many folks are blaming she is money minded.... but u know what she runs law firm not non-profitable organization.

Whats the advice on this from core group?
can we start mass web faxing USCIS for rule change?
Now we are talking....first we need green signal from Core Team and request them to make fax for USCIS. Once we have fax, then we will fax this latter to USCIS same day. I hope once 6000 member fax this letter to USCIS same day then we will see some action from them too and we will be in media.
I will also say that Core Team should sell this fax to its member for $10. If everymember pay $10 for this letter and if we are 6000 then it will be $ 60,000 for IV which will be very nice funds for IV.
All we want from USCIS that allow us to file I-485 or allow us to file EAD or AP so we can have some freedom of travel and job change and it will also help USCIS to start name check ahead of time and that will also cut their processing time to process I-485.

I checked with someone who has hired Rajiv Khanna and they said the same thing to him. So far, they have not generated any rejection notice for any application filed on and after July 2nd. Since this came from Rajiv Khanna I would think that it's some what credible information.
We will just have to wait and see till our checks get cashed!

I feel that they did not violate any clause. Till June 30 which is end of third quarter, they are authorized to approve (3*27%*140K) 113,400. However they approved only 66,400 till May 31. That yields about 47,000 for June alone(10%+any number not used in previous months). The reamining visas are eligible for Jul 1, which is 13,000. Put together June and July1, it comes 60,000. Therefore they did not violate any law. The remaining number was splitted for Consular porcessing.

Well, I didn't think Sunday, JULY 1 counted as a business day for USCIS. Isn't there a law prohibiting government employees from working on weekends? If there isn't any such law and if it really is a working day, maybe people should have hand delivered applications at the service centers on sunday. I read in some other thread that someone had his/her application delivered via USPS on sunday night :confused: No wonder this is all such a horrible mess!

You have described the problem very well. I have tried every way to get name check done. I have gone for FP four times (three times after 15 months expiration as they screwed up twice) but still no end in sight. For FP, each time I have to travel to a city that is couple of hours away. Both, my spouse and I have to take a day off from work. So it usually costs us couple of hundred dollars just to get each FP done. We have contacted both the Senators of the state and my congressman. We have made some good contacts with the staff of the congressman and this is helping with this effort. They have all communicated that it is in name check and they cannot do anything. We have tried every suggestion that is posted on the web but nothing seem to work. So we completely understand and go through the same frustration and relate to everything that you and willgetgc2005 wam4wam & stirGC maybe going through.

While on the way back from White Mountains in NH, our car was stopped on I-93 south by the US border patrol. They were stopping every single vehicle to question. They had over a dozen Govt vehicles with 40-50 people in uniform. My buddy was driving.

I think they let you off easy... sometimes they hassle immigrants a lot. I had one such experience close to the canadian border in northern minnesota. My friends and myself were asked to step out of the car at gun point and the whole car was searched inside out like a bomb squad. They detained us for 3 hrs since some of our papers were back in the hotel and couple of my friends had left their papers back home in wisconsin. They escorted us to the hotel, me driving the car and my friends locked up in the border security vehicle behind me. They checked my passport at the hotel and let my friends off with a strict warning.

It's absolutely true that few official documents they do not take color photocopy in many "office" shops (e.g vehicle title etc). May be the guy considered this too to be in that category. I have faced it myself on many occasions with different people.

To be honest with you all, last week when these rumors started, I thought once my case is filed, I don't care if they revise the bulletin or whatever. But after going through all this since yesterday, I don't want something like this to happen even to my enemies.
Even if my case is accepted(current in June, hopefully lawyer mailed it Friday for monday delivery) I'll support you guys in this fight!
So that it boosts up peoples who are similarly disappointed as i was last evening from 6 thru 9 PM ...

I have heard that there are desi consultants who sponsor H-1 for people graduating with Masters in US, irrespective of which field they are in. Is this true? Sounds a bit fishy to me.
Thats a new trend. They go to colleges and meet a group of Indian students who are about to graduate and take them out of drinks and dinner and give a presentation about their company. Then when these students come into OPT status, they are all given food + guest house accomodation. Then they are put under intense training for 2 to 3 months and made to do some mockup projects. Then their resumes are massaged with 4 to 5 years of experience ie experience from date they graduated in the under graduation and their MS education is stripped off on their resumes.
This seems to be a trend, though the practice seems not too good. As most immigrant students are hard working and determined, they put additional hours and make up for experience and perform well at clients. They get a decent 65K to start with from the consulting company and their h1bs are filed well before the cap ends.

If you have lots of money in the US you may be at risk of losing atleast some part of it. I think buying gold or buying property at a bargain price would be a safe bet. Don't let too much money in the banks. FDIC insurance covers upto $100K for an individual acct.
