I agree with Ronhira. He is not campaigning for dems.
What he says is right. There is more to saying "he is doing a lip service, didn't fix this, didn't do this", etc.. Yes, he would have said that. But there is a lot more to think about than simply saying "he didn't do xyz". He deals tons of things day in and day out, and with a lot more force.
We need to completely come out of our frustration mode and think about that. Its not a one man job to get a bill passed. It take A LOT!
He inherited the worst economy when he assumed office and he took it to thus far. He got the healthcare reform passed, which is as sensitive and as complex as Immigration.

I applied for my H1B 9th year extension using I-140 substitution in 10th March 2008. My 8th year H1B was expired on 14th April 2008. Currently my 9th year H1B extension was is in pending status. Unfortunately my I-140 was denied on 18th April 2008 due to 4 years Bachelors degree.
I used PERM EB2 labor substitution (May 2006 PD) and filed I-140 in July 2007 and denied (NSC) directly with out RFE. This is due to 4 years bachelor's degree and I have 10+2+3(Diploma) +3 (engineering-AMIE). I already applied my 485, EAD and AP. I got AP and EAD, but didn�t use it.
Now how can I get my 9th year extension?
Can I appeal for I-140 and get 9th year H1B extension?
Could you please give me your valuable suggestions on this?

yes, you cna appeal the decision and get another years extension. Better file another LC in PERM asap for next years extension in case the appeal also is denied

This means applicants that have already applied for I485 and have not been approved. It has nothing to do with the people who are waiting to apply.
The whole thing is just a big PR scheme.

I am under the impression that atleast in Illinois, the local law enforcement (police) CANNOT ask for the legal status or check any documents if it is a routine traffic stop or just pull you over and then ask for the documents. I know for a fact as this had become a big issue at one of the Chicago's northern suburbs recently and was in news for quite some time. There were two sections of citizens who wanted police to check and others (ACLU) argued that legal status was a federal jurisdiction and the local law enforcement were not authorized to check and violated the rights.
I think only ICE or CBP can ask that and how many of them are around in cities/ towns far away from the border?
I assume the same is true with other Police Depts.

The point is that to lobby for keeping the spouse out of the "VISA NUMBERS CURRENT" constrain may not be politically hot as it becomes a very compulsive and humanitarian issue. There is expected to be less resistance and public support as its a family issue. Success may be relatively easy and hence its a ponderable issue.)

I believe lobbying for legislation such that spouses can be added even when PD is not current as long as the primary applicant's AOS is pending is quite reasonable, and may not invite that much scrutiny or opposition compared to the larger and thorny issue of actually excluding dependents from the visa number cap. I know that the two are essentially related under current legislation, but if we (IV) can decouple them it would be a major success for us.

Don't u think that if X has contributed $1,000 and I have contributed $20/$0 I might be temped to rethink that I need to contribute more. It is not comparing $100 vs $200.
Think about it, any donation made by philanthropists are made public, i am not saying we are philanthropists here since we have a cause in mind. The reason is to prompt people to contribute. If this is not a key agenda IV then please ignore this post.
Your logic does not really make sense to me. If I contribute X amount, I do so because I believe in IV's cause (which is my cause too) and not because someone else has contributed Y amount.
I think we are all mature adults and not school kids, and do not require such kind of policing.

Hi,
My parents will be here for more than 184 days this year (on visitors vis) and I want to claim them as dependats on my tax return for next year.I searched through some old threads, but the info seems to be outdated.
* Can I claim them as dependants on my tax return?
* Has anybody done this successfuly before?
* What is the deduction amount per person/dependant?
* What is the process? I know they will need an ITIN etc.

Also, per the law any social security they contribute will never be credited back to them because they have to work for atleast 10 years, the work visa duration is six year. Skilled workers make reasonable salaries so this is a huge amount of money which thay might never see.
Perceptions maybe far removed from reality. One of them is that immigrants will continue to bear injustice in US while globalization takes its toll on US competitiveness because of populist measures, that will hurt it in the long run.

I agree with Bob here, as I've shot with both Nikon D1's and F5's from back in the day, to the latest stuff. I've done the same with Canon through the 90's and the current crop.
I feel like Canon has the upper hand on Nikon currently in both bodies and lenses.
Bob did label his opinion, most likely without thinking about it -- with the IMHO, to avoid attacks as such. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and none of us can 100% say that Canon lenses are better than Nikons.. No one here does bench tests, price comparisions, etc.. It's just field use and preference that determines this.
Back into your corner's fighters! Let's argue about sports or hot women before we waste our time on the merits of macro lenses!
Back to the topic at hand.. I think the Nikon is probably her best bet because of the build quality and apparently the kit lens is pretty damn good. You can pick up the D70 w/o the kit lens for $999 MSRP, which is only $100 over MSRP the 300D. So maybe the first question is, decide if either kit lens is fine for you. Then determine the build quality, and lastly determine which lens system you might want to grow into.
I don't think you can make a bad decision either brand you go with. We can all be happy with that. Competition is good.

If I wanted such references that were bestowed upon me, I could have easily stayed at "that other site" where one can always pick up an insult or two in a matter of minutes. "Dejavou' ...all over again." (sp?)

It is still different from case to case but you can count from 1.5 yrs to 5 yrs.

I am switching job using my EAD and my 485 was filed 2 years ago (EB2 Sept 2006 priority date). I-140 is also approved. My new employer will not sponsor for green card or H1 but the job is similar, actually it is exactly the same as I am merely taking a full time position in my client's company. My old employer is OK with the move and have even offered me to be on their payroll until i get my GC. Can I have two employers?
